Today we are going to discuss about jal neti, it is yogic cleansing practice in which water flows one nostril to another nostril, which purify the internal nasal cavity. We live in the polluted environment we inhale the dust particles and the nose act like a filter so it should be cleaned regularly. This intern help to avoid cough, cold, throat infections, sinusitis, headache etc. Directly and indirectly affects brain and major nerve of the body. So let's see how to do it.Preparation -
We need special neti Lota or neti pot. This pot is made up of plastic
ok, pottery,brass,or any other metal which does not contaminated the water. The nozzle on the end of the spont should be fit comfortably into the nostril so that water does not leak out. Then we need warm water should be pure, filter, it should be lukewarm and added with salt in the proportion of teaspoonful per half litre of water. Water test is somewhat salty like our eye drop. If painful or burning sensation is an indication of too little or too much salt in the water.
Let's see the stage 1-
- first take deep breath,then first right nostril close by pressing finger, take a breath by left side then alternate.
- exhale and inhale forcefully 2-3 times.
- fill the magic pot with prepared salt water. No
- stand straight take some distance in leg 1-2 fit. Ensure that the body weight is evenly distributed between the feet. Then Ben forward and till the head to one side, breath from the mouth and slowly insert the nozzle in the uppermost nostril.
- the nozzle should be pressed firmly e against the side of the nostril so no water leakage occurs.
- then slightly tilt the neti pot in such a way that water runs into the nostril and not down the face.
- then keep mouth open. Raising the elbow of the hand which hold the neti pot and it helps to adjust the position so so the water flows out through the lower nostril.
- when neti pot is empty e remove it from the nostril, Central the head and let the water run out of the nose.
-remove any mucus from the nose by blowing gently.
- then tilt the head to opposite side and repeat the process.
- after completing this process hostel must be thoroughly dried.
Drying the Nostrils-
1: stand erect- close the right nostril with the right thumb and in in and out through the left nostril 10 times just like in kapalbhati Pranayam.
Then repeat through the right nostril, with the left nostril closed. And perform one more time through the both nostril.
2:Bend forward from the waist- in this position Ben forward from the waist so that rank is horizontal.
Repeat the same process as described above but tilt the head to right, closing the right nostril.
Repeat again, tilting the head to the left side and closing the left nostril. Then finally repeat again with the head centre, breathing through the both nostril.
This step help to drain tappered water from the sinus cavity.
If necessary perform the the Shashank aasan for several minutes to allow the drainage of any remaining water.
Duration-
Jal neti should taken about 5 minutes,jal niti may be practiced daily, once or twice a week, or as required
Jal neti ideal practiced in the morning before asanas and pranayamas.
Precautions-
The water should be only passed to the nostrils, if water enters the throat or mouth it is not harmful,but it indicates that position of head needs to be adjusted.
Make sure that knows is properly dried after the practice.
If some water remains in the nasal passage or sinuses, it may becomes irritated and giving symptoms of a cold.
Jal niti may be practiced either in a standing position or standing. The later is most suitable for growing niti for a Singh while the former may be performed outside.

Variations-other liquids may also be used instead of water for the practice of neti. This includes warm milk-dugdha neti, form clarified butter or ghee-ghrita neti, and yoghurt. If oil is used instead of ghee, it must be natural and without added chemicals.
