Kapalabhati

Welcome back ,  now we are going to to start with the new kriya that is kapalabhati it is a not a Pranayam it is a kriya which cleanses the frontal brain. In Sanskrit "kapal"means 'skull'  and 'Bhati' means 'shine 'helps to improve the function of of the organs located in the skull . and also get shine on the forehead and face.
                                                                                                                           
 * Let us perform kapalabhati  by following steps.

1. Sit straight it in any meditative pose like padmasan or vajrasan.

2 . Take deep breath through the nostrils.

3. Exhale forcefully in such a way a that the lower abdomen is contracted to expel out the air. Inhale spontaneously and passively without making any efforts. Do not make effort to inhale. Air will enter the body through the passive inhalation. This is one stroke of kapalbhati.

4. You have to begin with 20 strokes at a time. This is one round. One can practice one to  three in a practical session. Gradually increase the strokes in one round.

5. Inhalation should be e passive and short, while exhilaration should be forcefully.

6. Kapalbhati  should be practiced after asana but before meditation.

7. Do not move the chest or shoulders during exhalation and do not contract the face.

* Benefits of kapalbhati-
 
- it stimulates nerves in the abdominal region, tones up the abdominal muscles and improves the digestion.

- kapalbhati expels more carbon dioxide and waste gases from the lungs than the normal breathing.

- it improves heart and lungs capacity and therefore good for bronchial asthma and also beneficial for allergic rhinitis and DNS also.

- it improves blood circulation throughout the body . It energises the body and remove lethargy. it help in weight loss and reduses abdominal bloating.
                                                                                                                               *  Limitations of kapalbhati

- those suffering from cardiovascular problems, high blood pressure, hernia, vertigo and gastric ulcer complaints, should avoid practicing kapalbhati.

-those who had operated in abdominal region or getting cesarean section and in pregnancy and in mc cycle should not do the practice kapalbhati.
